Have you ever considered Telemarketing as a business? If you are a "phone" person, would like to work out of home, have a command over the language and a pleasant voice, perhaps you should consider Telemarketing!
What is Telemarketing? It can be compared to direct selling. In stead of being face to face with the customer, in Telemarketing, you will be selling across the telephone. You could sell Insurance, credit cards, a product, a service, just about anything!
What you need to know..
Prepare for the phone calls. Do your homework. Remember, you will only have a few minutes and it is important that the initial impression you make, is good.
People may not be able to see you, but they will form an impression nevertheless. Keep your words soft and your tone pleasant.
You should feel at ease and keep the conversation going. An abrupt silence can ruin it all!
Do your homework with some dummy calls. Tell a friend or relative to stand in for the customer, and give you a genuine feedback. Did you sound shrill? Did you sound angry? Were you audible?
Keep a separate area for work in your home, if you want to be a Telemarketeer. No one wants to hear your dog bark or your kids crying! Ensure you are organized before you start.
Record your progress and keep records for future reference. Keep a track of your successes and how many of your calls converted into sales.
Keep numbers / contacts carefully. They will come in handy at a later date.
Practice what you want to say. You would do well to perhaps write a script! |
Today banks, Insurance companies, Credit card companies etc all employ telemarketers. The pay can be for the number of calls per day, but what is more lucrative, is a commission on the number of "conversions" from call to sale. The opportunities are unlimited, so go right ahead!
