Hold Your Breath ..

Looking back, Anjali is actually grateful to her sinus attacks!

She had been suffering from acute sinusitis since the age of 14, and having tried every possible remedy, for over ten years, she agreed to give Yoga a try. Regular practice of Yoga not only brought her sinusitis under control, but also reduced the frequency and intensity of the attacks. This success mantra aroused a thirst in her, and she enrolled for a Yoga training course. Three years of intensive training not only improved her health, but also qualified her to teach Yoga.

At first she started by teaching friends, and her fame spread through word of mouth. Soon after, her husband encouraged her to open her own Yoga school. The ample terrace was covered with a thatch roof, stone flooring was laid, she invested in Yoga mats and soon she was in business! To think, here was a business with next to nil overheads!

To start with, and in order to do justice, she took only 6 students at a time. Her charges were reasonable, at Rs. 50 per class and she was soon earning Rs. 300 per day. The duration of her classes was 30 minutes. As more people started hankering for her classes, she thought she would hold two sessions a day. This not only doubled her income, but also kept her healthy, with regular practice of Yoga every day. Her business fitted in perfectly into her domestic routine. She could still attend to her husband, kids, cooking and socializing.

During the summer holidays, when most people were away on vacation, Anjali decided to start a special course: Yoga for kids. The exhausted parents were only too glad to channelize the energy of overactive kids! Anjali offered a 10 day course, of 45 minutes duration per day and increased her charges to Rs. 1000 for the course. She took in 10 children per session, and offered two sessions per day. This way the summer lull was compensated with a steep rise in her income.
Perfecting an art can prove to be good business sense. Anjali's story proves it....
