Consider being an apprentice to a jeweller / goldsmith and learn the art. This will train your eye to know which gemstones can be combined for best effect, what "setting" gemstones entails etc. |

You can take up a Diploma course in jewellery design to learn the finer nuances of the trade. The minimum qualification for this course is XIIth. Std. This will give you a stable foundation in the types of stones, metals used, costing, presentation, design etc.

You will also be trained to design different types of jewellery:
men's jewellery
tradional jewellery
costume jewellery
contemporary jewellery etc.

You will need to calculate weight, size etc accurately.

You can tie up with a renowned jeweller and design for him on a regular basis.

You can work out of home, or for a jeweler as a freelancer. You could also tie up with jewellery export companies or international fashion houses.
