A few years ago Delhi based Suvidha got engaged to Karan, living in Bhopal. His family was insistent that the wedding celebrations should be held in Bhopal. Suvidha was concerned whether she would find a good beautician to do her make up and hair for her special day. Naturally Bhopal did not offer the expertise Delhi did. Taking a beautician along would be cumbersome and expensive. She was in a perplexing situation!

It was then that her mom came up with a bright idea! She suggested Suvidha take a short course in bridal make up, with Vidya Takaria, a renowned Delhi beautician. Suvidha was trained by Vidya for ten days, and finally she was confident that she could manage her own make up and hair for her wedding day.

Suvidha made a gorgeous bride and her perfect make up left the guests gasping! It was soon after that aquaintances started approaching Suvidha for tips on make up. She gladly helped. It was then that Karan suggested she could get into business. Initially she brushed it off lightly, but when she gave it a serious thought, it sounded like a good idea!

She started by doing the bridal make up for a family friend’s daughter. Her talents were noticed and more people flocked to her for tips, advice and help. Soon she was in business! Today, Suvidha is well known for her expertise in bridal make up, across Bhopal. She has no time to breathe during the busy wedding season. Her charges are Rs 3000 upwards for bridal make up, and she takes up a maximum of only two clients per day. Needless to say, she is booked through the wedding season, well in advance! She also gets innumerable requests to beautify brides from neighbouring towns. The time she devotes to her profession is around 2 hours per client. It fits well into her house, home and family routine.

This is the story of a simple girl who turned an expertise into a lucrative profession. If Suvidha can, can’t you?
