 AWAKE is a non-profit, non-governmental organization. AWAKE stands for the Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Karnataka, and was founded in December 1983. It is one of India’s premier institutions for women entrepreneurs completely devoted to the development of entrepreneurship among women |
AWAKE is an ISO 9001-200 accredited organization.
• The membership includes women entrepreneurs, who volunteer their time and expertise.
• The organization members facilitate and guide women who want to start or improve their businesses.
• Entirely run by entrepreneurs, the members train, counsel, train, share their experience & expertise, provide peer group support and help where necessary.
• On Thursdays, a large number of women come to AWAKE for business counseling.
• AWAKE is often called upon to provide national & international collaboration, be a resource organization in institutional competence building, training, commercial & technology linkages.
• An affiliate of Women’s World Banking, AWAKE has built up a strong support network with non- governmental and governmental development agencies, working with them to provide the expertise in entrepreneurship development.
• AWAKE targets all women from urban, rural, national & international areas aspiring to be socially & economically self-reliant, irrespective of their academic, social & economic background.
• It encourages all women entrepreneurs seeking guidance to grow.

AWAKE achieves its objectives through its many activities, which are formulated on the basis of its unique 4S module. This module includes

AWAKE has won several awards and citations for its dedicated initiative in developing Entrepreneurs in Rural Karnataka. With a membership base of 2000 and a clientele reach of 1, 00,000, it supports both start up level & growth level women entrepreneurs from the urban as well as rural areas. |
