1. Plan every day in advance. Determine what all tasks are to be completed on a particular day / week. Make sure the goals / plans are written down. Keep and USE a simple, "block" type, weekly calendar. Use a two page weekly calendar with one hour increments in each block. Each one hour block of time should be big enough to write in any appointments. Keep it with you at all times.

2. Don't just schedule work related appointments. Schedule as much as possible, such as time with your kids, family or significant other, sleep, eating, exercise, spiritual practice, reading, TV time, play time, laundry, shopping, writing, marketing your business, answering emails and phone calls. Know when you work best and plan work related activities in that time slots and remaining can be shared / dedicated to family.

3. Don't overbook. The real problem is things rarely go according to a prearranged agenda. Set a deadline for eask task which makes it easier to measure the completion time. Break down a big task into smaller ones and then start with first step. As things gets done cross them off the list.

4. Prioritise each task and consider which ones will give the best result and return on time spent. When you are prioritising your tasks, consider the consequences of doing or not doing something. This will help you to evaluate the significance of the most important tasks.

5. Learn how to say no. You don't have to agree to everything and with everyone. Say "NO" to non-emergency, "out of the block" activities. Eliminate distractions as much as possible. Use your priority criteria to identify requests that simply aren't worth your time.

6. Organize. Everything should be set up using logical systems so anyone needing anything can find it when they need it.

7. Use your laptop. Use a laptop and take it to where ever your kids are playing or watching TV. Check your email, watch your industry news and browse. Since you are physically present, your kids wonʼt feel you have abandoned them.

8. Plan free time just for yourself. Have some free evenings. Schedule a couple nights each week just to relax. Watch a movie, go shopping with family, play a game with your children, visit a park, etc.

9. Be ready for the unexpected. Sometimes unexpected situations comes when your child might fall sick and also it might be a busy day for you at work. the key to manage both on such times is to spend a large amount of time with your children with undivided attention. Then after giving them ample amount of time begin your work and allow your chilren to watch a special movie or play their favourite game or engage them in drawing or making some easy craft. they will get busy and enjoy and you will find time to meet your deadlines.

10. Don't stress out yourself and waste time in the process by pursuing over every second of time. Do what you can and enjoy whatever time you spend more pleasantly or productively.
